The Story Behind Live with Heart Gear…

Lowell’s Grandpa, Ola Danielson, also had Retinitis Pigmentosa—the same eye condition that Lowell has. Grandpa went completely blind in his 40s, but continued to farm into his 80s. He was extremely resilient, determined, and joyful. Grandpa was an incredible role model for Lowell, and was known as a man who saw with his heart. His attitude inspired our Amazing Race Canada motto which was “racing with heart, not sight”. In our effort to encourage people to think positively and turn obstacles into opportunities, we strive to “live with heart”. Lowell’s racing is one way that he has turned his obstacle of blindness into an opportunity. We created Live with Heart Gear to raise support as Lowell sets his sights on competing in road and track cycling at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics! Thank you for supporting the vision!
